EG4 Chargeverter Plus AC-to-DC Battery Charger

The EG4 Chargeverter Plus, model CU-48-5000-OD-01, provides a generator or utility-powered charging path for nominal 48 V lithium battery banks in grid-connected and off-grid energy storage systems. It is designed for 15- or 16-cell-series lithium batteries and can help maintain stored energy when solar production is reduced by cloudy weather, storms or seasonal conditions.

Generator charging and control

  • Designed for generator use, including generators with power quality that can cause problems for other charging equipment.
  • Accepts 120, 208 or 240 VAC input. Maximum charging current depends on the input voltage: 50 A at 120 VAC, 80 A at 208 VAC, or 100 A at 240 VAC.
  • CAN/RS485 communications support state-of-charge-based charging with compatible batteries. Without battery communication, start and stop thresholds use battery voltage.
  • Dry contacts support automatic generator start and stop using the configured voltage or state-of-charge thresholds.
  • Generator preheat and cooling times are each programmable from 0 to 5 minutes; battery charging pauses during these intervals.
  • An integrated breaker provides a way to shut off the charger output.

Applications and installation

Use the Chargeverter Plus as a backup charging source for compatible residential, cabin, workshop, off-grid or solar-plus-storage battery systems. Its IP54 enclosure provides limited dust and splashing-water protection. Mount it on non-combustible material in a location protected from direct rain, standing water and direct sunlight, following the manufacturer installation instructions. The published three-year warranty applies only when the unit is used indoors.
